چکیده
The current study investigated the effects of repetition on learning second language (L2) spoken word forms. Japanese university students L2 English were randomly assigned to one three treatment conditions (one, three, and six exposures) learned 40 words while hearing them viewing their corresponding pictures. A picture-naming test was administered before, immediately after, approximately week after treatment. elicited speech samples evaluated for two aspects vocabulary knowledge: pronunciation (accentedness comprehensibility) form–meaning connection (spoken form recall). Results showed that (a) number exposures positively affected measures treatment, (b) cognateness moderated how strongly impacted words. Moderate gains occurred comprehensibility new However, with exposures, only small observed accentedness.
